I just buy my heated seat switches for my project (Big thanks to Lexus2000)

The project is to put these switches on my Toyota Matrix XRS 2005
Winter Mode picture


These switches will give me the OEM look I was looking for!

The switches will comes with connectors and some wires...I cant ask better!










Now, when I will receive my switches and my universal heater seat kit, I will have alot of fun installing all that together! (Heaters, Swtiches, OEM Swtiches, Wiring ...)

I plan of keeping the Low-OFF-High switches that comes with the universal kit and add it to the Lexus switches.

The Lexus switch looks like a ON/OFF switch only,so it would be great to have the universal switches installed and hidden under the seats. (If the HIGH setting is too hot, at least it's not too difficult to set it to the LOW setting) HIGH in the winter, LOW the rest of the year.


I need to figure all the wiring things.
I'm not pretty good with the wiring stuff but I will take my time and do it right the first time!

Any advices??

I think if I could have the heated seat switch wiring of the Lexus ES300 1996-2002, it would probably help me for the installation!

Any chance you know the specific year of those switch? You've just listed the generation but the switch as far as I can tell changed a few times. Or maybe list the wire colors, I see possibly two blue, one white/black, one black, and one green? Does one of the blue happen to have a stripped color?

Disregard last post. I was thrown off by the amount of prongs on the back of the switch.

The switches are extremely simple, as you said it only has a high setting. Solid blue wire going to both switches is power, white/black wire is always ground, then for the switch with a black connector to the switch the blue and yellow wire is power leading to the seat heater, the switch with the blue connector has black as power to the seat heater.

While your project doesn't exactly fit on this forum, i'd like to see how it turns out.

There are actually two bulbs in the switch, one for the power indicator and one for back lighting. You don't have to hook up the back light, but it would be a nice touch.

1 or 3 must be power to the other light, unfortunately none of the EWDs (96-01) list two bulbs. Though, I do second that the backlighting would be a nice touch.

There is a back light bulb in the switches for sure I was looking at them before I shipped them off. I can't remember what year of ES I got them from though, they were for a heated seat project on a Celica but it turned out the switches would not fit into the panel knock-outs.

We used rocker type switches from a different Lexus. The back light is easy just tap into any bulb that illuminates the instrument panel or shifter or whatever, 1 wire.

I have done alot of ebay research recently!
I'm sure these switches are from ES300 1997 1998 1999 (maybe other year too)

The heated seat switch is 99% identical of the RX300 1999-2003 (only the "seat heater logo" is not on the right way and also not all RX300 have the same switch too)

I should take the Sport/Comfort Suspension switch too and install it with my Bc Racing Coilovers... Just Kidding!

Just some advice, if you have 2 stage heaters, why not use the switches from the 00-01 ES300? They have 2 stage heated seats stock, you won't need to hide the aftermarket switches...

Yeah I already think about it.
Now it's too late because it's already paid/shipped.

My first option and search was on ebay. I save few bucks buying here!

But I think those low-high switches are not as much available.
I only find them with the concole bezel for 100$ CAD (and I dont need the bezel)

All the switches/buttons are single press button on my matrix. It should really looks like it was there from day #1.

But I know, overall, your idea is a better option if you can find these switches/connectors at a good price!

I got my sexy Lexus switches yesterday!!! Thanks Lexus2000


One bulb was burn so it was a good thing!!!
I Already upgrade all the bulbs with 5mm white and amber leds.
Great result!
Easy swap!
Cost nothing because already have alot of leds laying around!

I just dont have to forget to add resistance on my wiring before putting 12v on it!

Switches tested with 9v battery and now I know exactly how the switches works with the wiring!

Now the switch is not 100% bolt-on on the Matrix dash.

I will have to trim the switch for the driver side.

The switch almost fit,

The switch is a little too tall but had the same width. Depth will not be a problem too (at least for the driver side)

It's 4-5mm too tall. So I will gently remove 2mm on the top and another 2mm on the bottom on the switch.

For the passenger side, I will have to cut the handbrake console so it should fit without trimming the switch! Just the depth may be a problem!
