Good post. The mattress creaks in the rear of my '94 drives me nuts in the winter. I may give this a shot.

Question for you faydin, I'm looking on the Febest catalog site and it shows the part TAB-017 ARM BUSHING REAR ASSEMBLY OEM #42305-06020 for the E300 1991-2006. For TAB-J520 it lists quite a few Toyota models, but no ES300s. Any idea what the differences are?

For those interested, the site is http://www.fe-best.de/index.php?page=catalog

Type Lexus ES300 into the Model field and select your generation, or the febest part number eg. TAB-017 in the Code field, or the OEM part number into OEM then click Find. Nice catalog once you figure the quirks out.

I'm getting the mattress creaking sound in the rear left when my suspension compresses on large dips in the road. I replaced all my struts in April, so I will be testing to see if this bushing is the problem.

FYI, The Febest bushing Tab-017 for the 1991-2006 ES300 is $9.99 on Newegg right now, $13.95 on Amazon. Same vendor, same free shipping.

Also, factory service manual for the 92-96 suggests 83 ft lbs when tightening the nut back down.

Just a follow up on this procedure. I followed faydin's excellent write-up and replaced the carrier bushings this week. Having a 4.5" bolt was handy when reinstalling the bushings. So far so good, no rear creaking when going over speed bumps. The old bushings were worn and rock hard. One thing I noticed was that the bushing at the other end of the lateral control rod creaked quite a bit when I moved the rod around. I may be replacing them next if the creaking returns this winter.

I'm willing to try this, as I have no idea what else could be causing the creaking. It only seems to happen during rainy and/or cold weather.

While the replaced bushings are no longer a problem, unfortunately the annoying creaking returned. This time it is the pressed in bushing at the other end of the lateral control rods. When I move the rod a bit, it makes the sound. I tried spraying them with lubricant as a test but it didn't penetrate deep enough to help. I'm now planning to either cut out and replace the bad bushings or take the easy route and replace the control arms with bushing included.
