Well, since theres nothing else for me to do for this car for a while and now everything is back in place, I figured I would show you all what I was dealing with....

2001 ES300...here we go-->

I had to replace the black box that held all the wires along the inside of the front valve cover. When I took the top cover off, the box just completely fell apart like dust. So I put all the those wires in wire harness tubing and then sealed it with insulated foil tape.

Everything is now all back together.

The red oil light next to the battery light is where it all started.

Rolled over to the 234,000 mark and still rolling.

Exterior. I've hit a deer and a deer hit me. When I hit a deer back in 2007, the only damage was my ambient temp sensor came loose and hasnt been right since. Sometimes it works and sometimes it has a mind of its own. When I had a deer hit me 2 years ago, it hit me on the front fender there. Had a dent and busted out the corner light. Pulled out the dent and replaced the light....cant even tell.

The spoiler I put on just after I bought the car in 2007.

Paint on the bumper is fading. Got paint chips here and there all over the car. Been hard trying to keep up and touch up.

Interior....

Aftermarket Navigation, bluetooth, DVD, MP3, CD, USB, and SD media player. Had 2 12" subs in the trunk with 2 extra amps and a capacitor but all got stolen out of my trunk a couple years ago. Now I'm only listening through the factory speakers and amp/sub. Still sounds great!

Thing I would like to do is get a new arm rest. This one is wearing away and getting irritating.

Also would like to find a way to get the driver seat reupholstered or replaced.

Ughh.....looks like I'll need to drop the pan again this weekend. On the way to and from work, I kept smelling an odor that smelled like something burning but more like gear oil. When I got home, I've been trying like crazy to locate where it was coming from. Can really smell it coming up with the heat at the front of the engine. So I look underneath and I see an oil leak at the pan. Great! Guess I didnt put enough RTV gasket maker on the pan. Its not burning off the exhaust so I'm hoping that is where the gear oil smell is coming from. Can only smell it while the motor is running.

You really are going through a string of bad luck. I feel sorry for you. On the other hand I'm truly impressed by your determination, and perseverance.

Good for you.

Phil

PS: make sure that it is indeed the oil pan that's leaking, and not a valve cover gasket.

Lol I know right? It seems to be never ending lately. I know for sure it is the pan that is leaking. Ran my finger around one end of the rim where the drain plug is and its wet. Not going to have time til this weekend to fix it. In the meantime, gotta keep an eye on it.

Just an update here: The car is now pushing to the 280,000 mile mark and still no issues from the sludge. Had some other things done since but nothing related to this thread. Still running on Moble 1 synthetic.
