High idle ?

I wonder if the car is idling too high. Your idle speed should be between 630 and 730 rpm's when your stopped. If it is higher . . . for example 1250 or 1500 rpm's . . . and you take your foot off the brake . . . the car will surge forward. Just a thought.

It's the DBW programming. Not much you can do. The throttle tip-in is programmed high, to give the effect of a powerful motor.

Try resetting the ECU, by pulling the battery cables.

Yepp, time to reset the ECU. Disconnect +/- battery terminals for about 60 seconds.

When driving again it will be jumpy temorarily but, will now learn your softer, less aggressive driving style.

Does the DBW programming work better on later model cars ? I thought I heard that this was Toyota's first attempt at DBW and they just didn't get it right.

Do all the newer Toyota's and Lexus cars now have DBW ?
