Default DIY: 4ES Power Steering Fluid Flush

I flushed my power steering fluid today on my 2005 ES330. The process is the same as 3ES ES300.

Here's a video on how I did it (same procedure):

Here's the procedure I used:

You'll need some dextron ATF, 3/8" ID clear tubing, pliers and flat screw driver, lots of rags, a small cup and a larger container for waste fluid, and a funnel.

Locate the power steering fluid reservoir.

Pull up coolant over-flow jug and move it out of the way.

Cut a 1 foot length of the 3/8" tubing.

Attach the tubing to the baster and suck out the old fluid from the reservoir.

Locate the power steering fluid return line.

Use a pliers to squeeze and release the clamp.

Disconnect the return line from the reservoir.

Connect the 3/8" male to male brass fitting to the return line and the long 3/8" hose. Connect the shorter 1 foot piece of 3/8" tubing to the reservoir and point it upward (no need to cap it off).

Fill up the power steering reservoir with ATF.

Its fine to overfill the reservoir at this point.

Route the other end of the long tubing from the return line to a catch bucket. Turn the key in the "ON" position (don't start it), and turn the wheel from left to right to left. This will pump the old fluid out.

Refill reservoir as necessary. It'll take 2-3 refills until the fluid comes out red and clean.

Reconnect the return line to the reservoir. Refill the reservoir to the max level.

Clean up any spills. Close the reservoir lid. Replace coolant over flow jug.

Start and run the engine. Turn the steering a few times and recheck fluid level. Check for leaks.
