Default fixing my back door handle

I have a Lexus ES300 2001. I am not an auto repair guy but I am good at tinkering and following instructions. I'm a DIY kind of guy.

My back drivers side door is not opening from the inside. I read that its probably a spring that broke or a rod that has come loose from being anchored to the frame of the door. Is it unreasonable for me to think that I could possible open it up and fix it my self even though I have never done auto work before?

I think you should be okay. Try to find a service manual diagram, just so you don't break any plastic tabs.
