Default Air Conditioner Filter

Helping a friend maintain her 03 ES300. OM says certain models are equipped with an AC filter. How do I know if her car has one? Call dealer with the VIN? Is the AC filter the same as the cabin air filter? The OM does not mention a cabin air filter. I had a 95 LS400 and 99 RX300. Both had cabin air filters behind the glove box. Thanks.

Yes, the AC filter is the same as the cabin air filter. Standard on all ES models of this year. It's located right behind the glovebox.

Thanks. Yes I just removed it. Looks original but not too dirty. In my experience, cabin air filters last the lifetime of the car. Give them a good vacuum and they are good to go.I do not believe the little bit of charcoal does much to eliminate odors.

You're welcome!

I try and vacuum clean mine every year, and then will generally replace every other year. It isn't necessary to clean it as much as I do, but it's just one more excuse for me to work on the car!

when you take the screw off the end of the piston, also remove the arm of the piston from the lid. if the piston comes off and falls down, it just snaps back into place using one of the plastic holes on the bottom of piston. upon removal, pay attention to the orientation of the pins so you know how to reinstall. I used 87139-YZZ05 in my 05 ES
