HI,

I have 28k miles on my 1999 ES300. When is a good time to do the timing belt? I have changed them on Chrysler 3.2/3.5 motors. Not sure degree of difficulty on this motor

Check your owner's manual. And use search function....
It is not difficult. Took me 2 hours just for the timing belt with basic hand tools.

Hello, glad you asked this question. I was going to ask something similar to get the forums advice feedback. I have a 2001 ES300 with 65K miles on it.

Incase you don't happen to have the owner's manual/owner's manual supplement my 2001 shows to have the timing belt done at 90K miles or 72 months. I'm passed the time interval and I'll probably reach the 90K mark in maybe 2 years. The car also has the original Vbelts that sound a little dry and timing belt runs pretty much in the same area.

I already purchased parts from Sewell Parts online at a pretty good price (make sure to create profile with Club Lexus membership info for discount):

Curious to see what kind of feedback the forum has to offer. Price for parts is pretty cheap preventative maintenance so I talked myself into doing it anyway.

Thanks for info! I just worry about the age of the belt. 28k is obviously low mileage, but a 1999 vehicle is already 14-15 years old and deteriorated rubber

If you have experience doing it before, you can do it to your Lexus. I did it by myself with no extra hand. I just had to use my brain to take out the two cam gear pulley and tighten the crankshaft pulley. The crankshaft pulley is a PITA to remove. So I recommend taking your car to a shop and have them loosen it before you do it yourself to save yourself some time and headache!
