Introduction
Hi Newby Bob here, I am new to this forum. I purchased a 1998 es300 in great shape with 28000 mi, I now just broke 60000, believe it or not. The car is great but does anyone have a stereo that has a functioning display? I just received a radio from someone on ebay but that also did not have display. Any Help???

Brand new
Hey guys, I just made an even swap of my 2003 ford explorer xlt which wasn't running for a 1997 es300 after posting it on craigslist. Its a little rough around the edges but it runs like a sewing machine and gets about 28mpg. Not bad for a car with over 226k. First time ever owning a Lexus so Im looking for sum upgrade ideas. I'll will be checking back to what y'all come up with. Gotta say hats off to Toyota. This car rides almost as good as my 2007 Lincoln MKZ.

What up CL!? New here.... The name is Troy.... Born & raised in Houston. Alongside Team Ikon. Trying to still get comfortable with navigating through the forum.... Have always had a soft spot for the ES(00-01) models, and owned a 98 GS in the past! So I decided it was time to begin doing my homework and get back to it. Have HUGE plans for this vehicle, air ride, jp interior pieces, wheels, to say the least. I've realized over the past few months we don't have much of an aftermarket selection to my understanding....? Any exhaust options? Coil over options(lowest, reliable, high quality), looking to get retrofit done as well....? Any reply is appreciated..... Hope I don't get flamed I've snooped around to try an find info on the questions I've asked here..... Still trying to figure it all out.... Here's a teaser:

I just sold my 1998 Camry XLE V6 last week and purchased a 2001 Lexus ES300 yesterday. I am familiar with the engine obviously but the ES300 is so much nicer. It needs some attention which I'm more than willing to grant it, but I'll need help from you all. From what I've gathered, it needs a new Vehicle Speed Sensor, Knock Sensors, and an alignment. It's in great condition physically. I've attached some photos. I sold the Camry for $2800 with 200k miles, and bought the ES300 for $3000 with 132k miles.

Here's a Pic of my 98 ES300, So far, I opened up my Headlights and painted them, Opened up my fogs and I still have to paint those. Removed my muffler, Installed a Pioneer Double Din, Pre-Ordered my XXR Wheels & HID's, Still waiting on my HID's to come, up next is a 130 Amp Alternator upgrade, & Airbag Suspension.

And runs and drives great but with one issue.. my tansmission a few times has slipped while driving. It cuts off while in drive so i have to shift down to 2nd in order for it to not cut off. Then when i try to put it back in drive it will jerk a lil bit then cut off. Also when this happens my reverse doesnt work at all! Any advice will be appreciated!

My Third INTRO
Hi Bob Scinto here.
This is the third time I am posting an intro, I don't know why they haven't gone thru.
I bought my 1998 es300 five years ago with 28000 mis and it is a joy to drive. Now I just broke 60000 mis, believe-it-or-not, It the champagne beige with beige interior. I will post a photo when the weather gets better here in Connecticut. My only problem has been with the stereo display which is blacked-out. I received another over the web but it had the same problem, pretty common I guess. Anybody out there that has one that works?

Newbie with question about cost of transmission work and 105,000 mile maintenance
Hi! I am new to the forum though I have owned my 2003 Lexus ES 300 since 2006. I bought it used with 60,000 miles on it and it now has 119,000 miles. It's been a WONDERFUL car and I love it and plan to drive it until the wheels fall off....but I have a couple of questions.
Today I had the transmission fluid and filter replaced and had serious sticker shock over the cost. I'd like to know from other members what this should run?
More seriously, my old mechanic back about a year ago told me that he replaced my timing belt, water pump etc. when I had 105K on my car, and that bill was horrendous. I paid it thinking at least I'd taken good care of my car, helped it to last longer, etc.
Now, my new mechanic says the timing belt is the original one and that it has NOT been replaced and he's laying odds that when he tears into the car he will also find that the water pump etc. was not done either. In other words, I may have been terribly ripped off by my old mechanic.
How will I know for sure? What evidence indicates to my new mechanic that the alleged work was not done by my old mechanic? I do not want to start a flap with the old one, only to find out that I am mistaken.
Any help anyone can give will be SO MUCH appreciated!
Thanks!
