The trunk release on my 2009 ES 350 will not operate by using the remote, dash button or exterior button above the license plate. The emergency release behind the panel at center of rear seat and the yellow emergency handle on the trunk lid both function properly. Does anyone know if this is a solenoid problem? I do not have an Owner"s Manual for this car. All of the fuses are good.

 

Wrong forum, but does your car have a release disable switch in the glove box? I don't know about your model but previous generations have this.

I recently bought a 99ES and had same problem with fuel door opening. If your solenoid is working (can you hear it click?) as mine was, I examined the filler door. Part of the black plastic extension inside the door had broken off. I think you can either glue some small piece back on or, as I did, just use a plastic tie and position it to where it pushes against inside. You can move it around to where it will work every time.
Probably too easy of an answer, but it was a solution to mine.
