When I was first thinking about buying this car, I figured that it would be really easy to find spare parts, because the ES is essentially a Camry (big mistake). What I later realized is that even though the car is based on the Camry, it really doesn't share a lot of its parts. Also, because these cars are so damn reliable, not a lot of them are in junk yards. And the ones that are, will often be scrapped by resellers for ridiculous prices. The moral of the story is - spare parts are expensive!
What kind of parts? The mechanicals are almost exactly the same as a Camry or Avalon. The body/interior of course is completely different, but how often does one need such parts.

Your most 'expensive' gas is still cheaper than the average Canadians'. Think about that.

Just an observation, but i hate how when you open or close your window after it rains or you have had a carwash, the seal leaves streaks all over the window. I know in the lx470 it doesn't do that and it doesn't in my gs300. Minor complaint, just annoying.

I have a 2002 ES 300, and what I discovered after purchasing it is how wimpy the horn sounds. My previous car was a 1996 ES 300, and that horn had some *****!

i got some repellent for windows at autozone, yellow bottle, pretty helpful, even if there are streaks, when they dry, theres no trails left, glass is clean, unlike when you just use windex

@ 01LEXPL well prices are different in the different countries due to difference in salaries and gov't you know, but still i believe NYC is one of the few states with mad high prices. I went to Chicago like 3-4 weeks ago, prices are much cheaper the minute you get out of NYC, almost a dollar difference and i compared on BP gas stations i didnt even check the prices in those cheaper stations cuz i always put BP

I too noticed the lack of a "mist" feature on the wipers immediately! This is extremely annoying, always having to turn the wipers on and back off again. I'm almost ready to try a mod to the wiper motor circuitry, or has somebody already tried that one?

Also, there is no audio control on the steering wheel (2000 es). I can't tell you how many times I've put my thumb on that spot where it should be...

^ I think those annoyances have something to do with it being a 13 year old car...

From my understanding, those things became 'features' in the next facelift's of all the Lexus lineup.

RX330 [04] got the two things you want, where the RX300 [99-03] didn't

The RX300 has the "mist" wiper function.

I think you're confusing what they mean by the "mist" feature. What they meant is that you can't activate the wipers by pushing up on the stalk.

ah i see it now. But still the RX300 doesnt has that feature either. hmm

Anyways on the ES i really like convenient and easy way to change the rear middle and reverse light bulb. There is a small opening on each side when you open the trunk for removing/replacing those bulbs.i like that
