Default will 1999–2001 parts fit on a 1996-1997 ES300

The ES 300 received a mild facelift in 1999 for the 2000 model year that consisted of new, clear tail lights and turn signals, a revised front end with a new grill, headlights, and lower bumper with clear fog lights and larger alloy wheels. Inside, the interior received an electrochromatic mirror, more wood trim and slight revisions to the audio system. Xenon High-Intensity Discharge headlights with auto-leveling were now optional. From 1998 through 2001 (1999 to 2001 model years), a limited "Coach Edition" was offered, and in 1999 for 2000, a "Platinum Edition" package was offered, including power moonroof, unique interior trim, and custom alloy wheels.[18]

Will these parts fit direct on my 97 as in Exterior parts like tail lights headlights and fogs and grill?

Yes, and no to Fogs without some modification... but you can search for that...

As this alone has been answered 234970294709272347029409752903 times on this forum, and in fact google pulls up the answer and points you back to this forum.

I have the 2000+ tail lights, so yeah everything bolts right up. One of our forum members retrofitted his fog lights (they're a slightly different shape). There is no real DIY guide, but I think it just involves some plastic cutting.

I would say that would have to be eBay/Craigslist, and maybe the ES300 Classifieds on this forum

You need the HID headlight, ideally you can get it with the plugs (ask the junkyard to cut off the plugs with the light or do that if you are getting them yourself) because you do need a plug you can plug in. The plugs for the HID light unit are different from the car without them, both high and low beam. Since Toyota also sells repair wiring and plugs you can get the parts to make your own plugs for the HID lights.

You pull your headlights, cut the plugs off, and solder/heatshrink/tape the HID plugs on, and put it back together that is it. The HID cars have an auto leveling system that the non-HID doesn't have but you don't need that.

I have done this on my car and I am happy with the results.

Not quite, first you need the whole HID headlight with ballast, bulb, caps I got the best deal buying a complete unit. Then you need the electrical plugs, from that HID ES300, that connect the lights. The non-HID car has different plugs. You'll need to cut off the plugs on your car, and solder the plugs from the HID car on to those wires. If you can solder wires together it is 10 min of work, but not plug and play.
