Hey guys! On my 97 ES, my Key FOB was working fine ever since I programmed it (bought it off Ebay 2 years ago) 2 years ago. Then it got to the point where it would only work closer to the car and eventually would only work intermittently. Of couse I assumed it was the battery, and I bought a brand new battery and tried it yesterday, but it still doesn't work! I don't recall every getting it wet, etc, so I'm puzzled as to what may have made it stop working (I even 'stuck my tongue' on the old and new batteries to make sure they had a charge). Is there anything you guys can think of to try? I know on my old ES (a 92-96) there was a switch where you could turn off the keyless, but I didn't think the 97-01's had anything like that, so I assume it is likely just an issue with the transmitter.

Actually there is a switch. It's in the glove compartment.

Hey thanks Dave! I'll try that tonight. Anyone else have any ideas if that doesn't work? The FOB looks to be in good shape still and so does the inside circuit board, so I have no idea why it would have stopped working. I would assume it would be much more likely that the key fob stopped working rather than the receiver in the car right? Plus I can use my other ES's remote to test it. I wonder if that would make both my cars doors lock/unlock at the same time?..guess it prob would haha, I'll post a vid if I do that.

Looks like the switch is just for canceling the trunk opener dash button (for valet/theft purposes). I see no keyless shutoff. Will try a reprogram tonite

Well, it works again, but no idea why. When I went to try a reprogram I tried pushing the lock button beforehand and it worked. No idea what happened, but just thankful I don't have to waste $50+ getting a used one!
