Default 99 es300 front passenger window not rolling up

i was able to roll down the front passenger window, but the window is not rolling up now. i hear the regulator noise when i press the window key from both the driver side and passenger side. I am assuming it could be a cable cut. can any one provide the part number for the cable. how easy is it to remove the window panels and install the cable.

thanks

usually power window motor can be bought with new regulator/complete assembly. i've found them quite cheap off ebay.

haven't removed door panel, but assume nothing overly complex.

following link provides directions to remove/.replace the motor. in this case the motor is good but the cable was broken.

In September of this year, we had a similar problem with our 94 ES. The driver window would not go up.

I assumed it was the window motor and took the car to a local glass replacement shop. After disassembling the door, they determined that it was a faulty regulator and not the motor. The total cost, parts and labor, was about $220.00.

I do a lot of my own repairs and maintenance; however, taking a door apart and diagnosing this problem was not something I wanted to tackle. The repair cost seemed very reasonable to me. However, this is not something that I would ask a Lexus dealer to repair. Their cost would likely be shocking.

window assembly with regulator can be had pretty cheap off ebay. yes, if you aren't comy with this job, don't do it. Falling glass can make small job suddenly more $$. I usually have window up and use a piece of 2x2 or 2x4 wedged in to hold up glass (on other cars...haven't had to mess wirth lexus yet).

and yeskay, great move posting your final fix and a helpful tutorial link. so many folks use these helpful internet forums, post their problem and then neglect to share their final fix with the very people they seek free info from. a pet peeve for me as I try to remember to share my final outcome. kudos to you !!
