Default Alternator issues after being replaced. Where to go?

I had a battery light on the dash, I figured it was the alternator. I tested it with a multimeter but to be safe I brought to an alternator tester and it failed. I bought one and installed with the light being gone. Two days later it came on again, I checked the connection and I didn’t put one of connectors back correctly. I was okay for another two days then yesterday the light came once again, each time I would drive about 10 minutes before the light came on. I checked the connection and noticed it looked a little funny. Could be burnt? I used the nut that came with the replacement alternator and it looked all burnt you could say. Compared to the original one I removed. I have some pictures showing the connections and nuts. I also have my valve cover gaskets leaking which I’m planning on replacing soon so there’s some burnt oil around.
