Man, what I would do to get my 3mz to scream like that...

If you don't mind me asking, did you buy your s/c new from toyota or 3rd party used?

And your car must be stupid fast, any vids of that beast?

Talk about it! On top of that, my 3MZ's electronic throttle control makes the car feel so lazy.

I recently bought a 1MZ Solara and very much enjoy the instant throttle response and pickup.

the trd supercharger was discontinued in the early 2000s so I had to buy an used one. However the one I had was low mileage and was in a great condition.
you can still pick up ones in good condition on solaraguy or toyotanation for about $2500
even a beat up supercharger can be rebuilt relatively cheap

man that makes me want to buy a 97-98 ES and get one of those ha.

I must apologize for my nozyness, i'm just compelled because i've never seen them on the market before.
I was thinking about picking one of these up with my next income tax check.
Is this a bolt-on application, or are there further modifications that need to be done?
Also, is the s/c "safe" for an automatic transmission?

I hear ya, man. Mine had some major lag when coming off an on-ramp to the highway. I actually seen your throttle cleaning video on youtube and cleaned mine the same day. What a difference! The lag is not as prominent anymore.

My girl is getting her grandmother's 1998 Es300 with only 40K on the dash. I may try trading her my CTS for it so I can supercharge it!

EEngineer May 4, 2013 01:11 PM

auto is fine as long as you don't run too much boost. just make sure u run it on a none vvti 1mz-fe motor.

the supercharger it a bolt on, but you will need some minor stuff like egr pipe and ebc module which usually comes as a complete kit. there's usually one or two kits for sale on solaraguy.org

you will need to reroute some hoses but that's easy.

msekanha May 4, 2013 10:25 PM

I see...

It seems like that s/c would seem so violent on this transmission..

It's ashaming that you can't install an s/c on a vvti motor... I would love to buy a 2001 coach/platinum edition and supercharge it :B

Why can't you supercharge a vvti motor anyway?
