Minor oil leak??
Hi,
I have a 2000 ES300 with 150k miles in pretty much new condition. Just recently I discovered a minor oil leak coming from somewhere just above the drain plug. It is not the pan and appears there is a separate piece of aluminum the pan bolts to and then the aluminum housing bolts to the block. Also some type of sensor just a few inches up from the drain plug and slightly off to the passenger side. I clean it and still appears maybe where the aluminum meets the block?? Yet all the silicone looks good. Anyone with any info would be greatly appreciated. The vehicle has been using synthetic for past three years/50k miles and leak just started??/
Thanks

Have you recently done an oil change? Due to the location of the oil filter and the tilt of the engine, oil will spill out during filter changes and will find its way to the drain plug. I had the same issue when I did my first oil change on the ES. Try spraying the engine with some Simple Green and hosing it off.

I just bought a 2002 ES with 163K on it. Same exact issue.
My guess is that it is probably a valve cover gasket leak. Take a look around the valve cover and see if there's any evidence of a leak/oily grime.
