Default '98 Sound system questions

Hi all,

I just upgraded from my '93 es300 that i had done quite a bit of work on the sound system including new headunit, speakers, tweeters, and sub. It sounded awesome and i loved it, plus it was a manual, i was actually really sad replacing her. But I found a '98 in AMAZING condition for only $1k, the owners thought it needed a new suspension assembly but all it needed was 100 bucks in struts and a few hours of elbow grease.

I got to choose between which car i wanted, whichever i didnt pick was going to my older brother who just broke his car. I chose the nicer of the two ('98) because i was under the assumption I would be able to easily swap out the shot sound system in there. That was the only problem. Both tweeters are blown, the speakers that are in there sound like absolute garbage, and the rear deck sub is also blown. Also the display on the factory headunit is busted but that doesnt bother me.

And because they went from two 6x9s in the rear deck on the 93 to 6 1/2" in all the doors and a sub in the back i decided to just leave all the speakers in my 93 and give my brother something nice. I want to rework all the audio in my new car and ive done some research but cant find much pertaining to installation. Crutchfield's assembly instructions for every speaker and every headunit say that everything requires custom fabrication for fitting.

All i need is an aux in which is why im fine leaving the factory headunit in with a broken screen.

Would something like this work with it for what i need? http://www.jlaudio.com/cl-ssi-car-au...egration-98112

At the same time, does anyone have any speaker recommendations for this car? Im planning on just cutting out the factory sub entirely and using my own that i already have. I want a decent set of 6 1/2"s with tweeter setup for 50-80 or so and then a decent set for the rear doors, not quite as expensive.

What i have that i want in the car;

I installed Boston Acoustics SE60 and SE65 speakers front and rear in my car. Sound great. The SE60 is a 6.5" component system, the SE65 are 6.5" coax. I found them on ebay for about $65 a pair. Excellent sound, very efficient (92db per watt) for use with a low power system. Ideal for this kind of setup.

Excellent, i havent had a chance to rip off my door panels yet and take a good look at what im dealing with installation wise. Do those need much TLC to get in the door?

That's unfortunate, these sound great. Never been a huge fan of Kicker. You might want to see what's available from both Infinity and Polk Audio. Doors are easy. You'll need pry tools to get the wood panels out. Hardest part of the install will be the tweeters. I removed the glue from the factory speakers so I could use the steel brackets to mount with, made for a very clean install.

i think kickers are great for subs. i had a mustang with two 12" cvrs in a ported box and them things bangeddddd. my brother actually running two l7s in his civic, and they sound great, great bass. i havent ever used there components speakers though, for voice i always stuck with o2's (oxygen audio) they the best in my opinion. im gonna be redoing the system on my 00 es3, and im stepping up to alpine type r's for my bass, o2's for my door speakers and tweeters, and a 8" 02 where the factory sub used to be. just having a hard time deciding where im gonna stash my eq...

sorry if i went off topic though, lol. i do suggest that you look into these 02's. they make great quality stuff. they can be alil expensive, $80 a speaker for the 6&1/2 cone speaker.they sell cheaper components also, not sure the price though. but honestly, if you want great quality, crystal clear sound, check them out.
