hi, guys. in april, i got a check engine light with code P0171. it came on with the TRAC OFF light.

the mechanic turned it off and i cleaned the MAF sensor and drove it basically about a 1200 miles without any problems. then, i took a long road trip about 800 miles round trip weekend before last. on the way there, about 300 miles in, the same lights came on. i figured it was the MAF sensor again and that i would have to replace it.

then on the way back, about 150 miles in, the lights went off.

then about the 100 miles later, i started getting the check oil light. i had never had that and i was kind of freaked out as i was only about 4500 miles into my last oil change. the check oil light went on and off but then the check engine and trac off lights came back on and stayed on through the drive back home.

so i got it home and immediately got an oil change. then on the way to get the oil change, the other two lights went off. and they have stayed off.

is that weird? do P0171 error ever come and go? i've driven about 100 miles now with all the lights off.

i'd appreciate any thoughts.

i have about 85K. i sort of knew what the code meant earlier (i think) but what i am puzzled about is why it came on then turned off again. could it have been the low motor oil?

probably, it is the same code, but i can't be sure because the code turned off before i got around to getting it read.

not sure what to do.

 

say, my car sort of rocks front/back and sometimes kind of right/left when i am at a stop light. is that called rough idling?
