ES300 441 and 446 codes
I already replaced the original gas cap with one from AutoZone. The light stayed off for 2-3 weeks. When a perspective buyer test drove it, the light came back on
I don't ever drive on the highway and I drive less than 50 miles per week. Could going over a certain speed mean anything?

Since the car is for sale, I am trying to get the codes cleared and to make sure that the person who purchases the car gets a car in proper working condition. I also don't want to overpay for a big repari if all it needs is something simple.

Tx. You misunderstood me. I do want to get it fixed before I sell it. I just want to limit the repairs to what actually is wrong and not pay for repairs that are not necessary.

I don't think they check that in FL but it doesn't matter because I will have it fixed anyway.
I have an appointment on Monday with my mechanic. Someone on here says that there are 2 VSV's on my car. I don't know. Here is what I will have him do:
Code 441 - 446
1. Replace Gas Cap ALREADY DONE
2. Check hoses
3. Check Air filter
4. Get a smoke test done
5. Check for Cracked or loose Hose
6. Check connections especially to VSV
7. Check for Vacuum leak
8 Check.Air filter (I think mine is new)
9. Check Charcoal canister
10. Check VSV

I just talked to my mechanic. He says that he thinks it's the vsv. He will have it ready tomorrow. He said the part was $108 and the total bill will be $288.
He said the canister checked out fine. He said he ran two smoke tests. The first time everything checked out fine, but when he ran it a second time he found the problem. It will be ready tomorrow.
If this is the end of the problem then I will be very very happy.

Bumping this again (although at this point it's more for personal reference) because P0446 came back yesterday after exactly 11 months. What I did about a year ago was pretty simple - reset the codes and reseat the gas cap. I've driven about 10,000 miles since then over the course of 11 months until the code came back. I followed the same procedure last night so we'll see how long it lasts this time.
