Sound system questions

Hello I have a 1997 Lexus es 300 and I am looking to update my stock sound system. I'm looking to put 2 12's and 2 door speakers and 2 amps or I have 2 subs and I want to add it to the current stock system I have except for the back deck sub and front door speakers ( that are blown ). I was just wondering what head unit would suit be best and what headunit kit would work best in the es300. Thanks !, Ryanh1020

HI Ryanh,

if you want to upgrade your sound system , you will need for sure a new amp because the stock one's not powerfull to run 2 sub... for exemple , if you run 2x 12'' 600 RMS each, you will need a amp that can go more than 1000 RMS ... the stock one is like 80 RMS lol.

You will also need to change the HU. There is no Headunit that is ''perfect OEM fit''. I suggest a double din HU, not a flip screen or simple din.

Clarion, Powerakoustic ( some model) , pionner make good HU

If you need more info on how to connect everything and the best speaker sub to buy ( dont buy speakers that make base bevause your sound will be crappie if you also have a sub in the trunk ...)

I know Im gonna have to get a bigger amp.. But I was just wondering if I could add to my current system and thanks for the HU suggestion .. Btw what if I just unwired the deck subwoofer ( its blown) and then rewired it to my ported box with 2 12s . I know the stock amp won't push the subs but I just want a little bass untill I can hook up the new speakers with the headunit . Also what kit would I need for a ken wood HU . Thank you so much for the advice.
