On the rear control arm there is a part attached and I have no clue what it does can someone help me out t here?
It has me stumped but lol I am not a mechanic this is my first ever front wheel drive car as well so lots of learning still if I expect to do the work myself |
What year and model car are we looking at here?
|
That is a load sensing proportioning valve. It changes the amount of braking force (via a hydraulic regulator) that is sent to the rear wheels based on the ride height. The more weight in the back, the more the valve gets pressed.

Thank you for the identificaion .....this is a 1992 lexus es300 finaly got the compleate tuneup done on her and man she runs sweet now...had a bad plug wire and she was missing on #3
Now a second question could this valve cause the abs trouble light to be on ? Mine is and has been since I bought the car last month and now that I have new belts new radiator hoses and new vacuum lines on her It time to get on to the next stage new knock sensors and the abs fault ... |
I doubt that valve can cause an ABS fault. Most likely you have a bad ABS sensor, or a bad connection to one of them.
