Check engine light and trac off light
Well, this is my first post, and I hate to start things out like this, but I just bought my 1999 es300 and it is acting up. My check engine light and trac off light came on a couple days after I bought the car. My first thought was a tune up. I had the codes ran and it was saying cylinders mis firing. So I had a full tune up done. It drove perfectly for about 150 miles, but the gas mileage was pretty bad still. Then the lights came on again... I had the codes ran and this time it was p1133, bank 1 sensor 1 af sensor. I have ordered the part, and it is in the mail right now, I was wondering if the car running the way it is with the bad sensor is going to further complicate things?
Has anyone else had this problem? If so, when you replaced the sensor, did that fix the problem?
The car idles really rough and the engine light flashes when it is at a long stop light but then stops flashing when I start movin a bit again. Also, the car bucks and feels like it sputters at about 40-50 mph. Then at about 60-75mph it will jerk a little bit then get back to driving fine. It also feels like it does not want to go into overdrive.
Please help!!!!!
Any suggestions?

What specifically did the full tune- up include?
Stop throwing parts at it until the specific problem is diagnosed. Trouble codes are just indications of the general area where the fault may be. So even though it identifies a problem with a specific sensor, the actual problem may be elsewhere for example, the wiring associated with that sensor may be defective, or an input signal to the sensor may be missing, or a vacuume hose may be leaking. So the sensor may still be good, and changing it will not resolve the problem.
Thats why proper diagnostics is critical, else it's money down the drain.

The tune up consisted of plugs, wires, and vacuum hoses.
And when I looked under the hood to see if I could replace the sensor myself, I noticed the sensor wiresbhad all been snipped and then twisted back together with some kind of wax covering the exposed wires.
When you replaced your af sensor, did that fix the problem?

By your description, I'd check the front and rear oil control valve also. 99 ES are prone to malfunction in these valves, which triggers several other symptoms, including misfires, trac off light, etc.

Are the oil control valves pretty easy to get to, or is that something I should go to a shop for? I just hate dumping money into a shop if its something I can do myself.

So the wire to the sensor are cut?
Does the 99 have plug wires ------- my 00 has individual coils. A tune up is vacuum hoses?
Whenever the CEL is flashing you should not drive the car --- the light is warning you that the misfire is great enough to send unburned gasoline to the catalytic coveters. The gas will burn in the converters and overheat them.
