Default Am I the only one that hates the look of....

Am I the only one that thinks flashy oversized rims, lowering springs and low profile tires take away all the classiness of the ES300?

In my opinion, keep that crap for cheesy cars like Civics and Subarus.

I'm not into lowering the ES at all, it already sits low enough. As for oversize rims it depends on what you mean. I think the 16" wheels are a bit too small and plan to move to a 17" wheel. I can see 18" wheels to if the style is understated. Anything larger is getting into the kid racer thing... and, IMNSHO, is not appropriate to the ES.

16" look good... in the winter:

I say 17" is a normal everyday rim. I used to have 18" and think they made the car MUCH nicer and regret selling them for my Enkei's.

A rule of thumb is to never go over 19 inches, but obviously this applies differently to each car. For my ES, I will never go over 17", in fact I'm looking for some nice 16" wheels to keep as my summer set. I currently have the stock 15's and I will transform them into my winter wheels in the future.

^ my stocks were 16" I wasn't gonna downsize it to those... It looks way to small with those monster truck tires IMO.

I feel like this car was designed with fat tires in mind, that's why the larger rims don't look that great on it. (obviously just an opinion). Right now I'm thinking of 16" GS wheels from 97-05. Does anyone know if they fit on the 3ES?

i think flashy rims are a bit dumb for the es300...but the stock rims are nice there great but if someone wants to go with something a bit bigger id so go with newer lexus rims that are bigger and nicer or newer toyota rims like the camry or avalon rims look nice on the es300 with a lexus cap....overall put something that fits the car and it deff sits low enough

This thread saddens me
A proper wheel setup has to be 17" at least....but I do agree that anything over 19" is just overkill.

I also agree. I think the stock ones look too small. I just switched my 17" black enkeis for some 17" 06 gs300 wheels. Looks much better. I would never go over 18" tough.

In the end, It's just your own personal preference....

I've had 15's (stock) 17's, 18's and now I have 19's!!! Now I always say "go big or go home!" I love the look of big wheels and I'm not going back to anything smaller (except only in the winter :P)

Love those 5 spokes, Ive seen 3ES's with em, Im guessing the tire size has to be right to avoid rubbing. And I totally agree with this thread. leave the ghetto ryms for the chevys and hondas please.

17's are the max for me for any family sedean! I have the stock 15's in my 97, but 17's are abt the max i can go here in ny with all the potholes anyways! i had a z32 300zx with 19's and the bone-jarring, tooth-shaking, tire-busting experience is one i have loved to live without!
