ES300Ride

Hey All,

I own a 1992 ES300. It started running hot, so I replaced the radiator, but it still ran hot. Then I replaced the thermostat, water pump, and both radiator caps, and after each replacement, it is still running hot. I noticed the 100 amp master fuse had also blown, which I replaced also.

I noticed what looked like another radiator in front of the main one, and I'm not sure what that is, and if that can cause the engine to run hot, if damaged.

I could really, really use some help! Thanks everyone!

The other "radiator" is the AC Condensor. You should probabkly take the car to a mechanic. Could have blown head gasket. Is the coolant level still good? Is the fan operating properly? Is the condensor clogged, not allowing airflow to the radiator?

Was the thermostat installed properly?

Is the engine really overheating? Make sure that your temperature gauge, or the coolant temperature sensor are not giving you false readings.

Best thing to do at this point is to find a garage that has an IR (infra-Red) thermometer. It will determine the actual engine temperature, and help identify any blockages in the cooling sytem.

Also, how long does it take for the engine to overheat, and under what circumstances?

Plug on top of the powersteering pump, connector possibly unplugged itself. Reach your hand in there and feel around...

I wanted to update my status: My ES300 is no longer running hot. Hopefully I won't look too much like a nerd, but I was originally putting the coolant directly into the radiator, I then decided to put it into the water port on the engine. Viola! I'm not sure if that's how it's supposed to happen, but it's running fine now.
