Mystery Hose
 

I need some help. I found a hose disconnected on my son's 1994 ES300. When the engine is running there is suction on the hose. I can't figure out where it goes to re-connect it. I can see the marks from the hose clamp that used to be on the end of it.

One picture shows the end of the hose along the passenger compartment firewall. The other shows where the hose starts. It is in the center of the picture the lower of the two bigger hoses coming off the silver intake manifold or whatever the silver plate is called.

I don't have the same engine on my 2001 es300, so I a cant compare, but from your description my thinking is that it could be the vacuum hose that goes to the PCV valve. Anything else should have caused a drivability issue and possibly the CEL to come on

On my car, the PCV valve is located on top of the rear valve cover gasket, and is easily accessible and viewable.

Someone else with the same engine can confirm.

There was a check engine light and when I cover the hose with my finger the engine runs smoother. Hope that helps.

Anyone know where the hose goes to or maybe could look on their car?

I looked at my ES, it doesn't have that hose the port is sealed off. I looked at my Camry (3VZ engine) but it's a bit different, it has the port and the hose, but it routes differently.

The service manual was not much help I couldn't find a decent diagram. I'm sure someone with the same car will have a look for you.

more than likely its the hose that goes to the air box. looks like you got a piece of the nipple it goes on still in the hose. that will cause a check engine code cuz its registered air thats escaping. check your air box or the air tube going to the engine to see if theres any parts broken off.

I believe that it goes to some sort of valve for the power steering. It allows the idle to increase when you turn the steering wheel.

ill check my manual to see for fact. but u really want to know for sure, where it goes, find another car with same 1MZ-FE engine, pull someone over lol (why not, ive done it so many times), go to dealership, or junk yard

I'll take a look tonight at mine. It's a 97 but same engine. I'll get back later if I have that hose.

Does your brake pedal feels hard? If so, it might be the brake vacuum booster.

JSM1284 has got it! I can't see that side of the A/C idle up valve but the hose reaches exactly to that point and I can feel a hole on the other side where it would connect.

HAHAHA............I was just getting on here to tell you that. I'm currently removing the motor in my ES and putting a 50k mileage motor in (old motor 280,000 mi and locked up!!!) it, and had all the pieces on the bench. So I reconstructed them last night to find the spot. Good job JSM 1284!
