Hardwire Radar

I am hardwiring my radar detector into my es300 through the overhead console, mich like done here on page 3 by ayonnebay https://www.clublexus.com/forums/es3...1-es300-3.html
Now i am just using a simple phone cord, now that i have opened it up i see a yellow, green, red, and black wire. I believe i only need the green and red wire, but i am unsure which is the ground, and which should be used to power the radar, does anyone know? Help would be greatly appreciated thank you.

is that what your using just to wire the radar detector to its power source? imo i would use at least 16gauge for power sources. well, anything electrical (home/auto) usually 2 wires mainly black (ground) and mainly red (positive). the phone cord is just like a usb wire (yellow-green=read wires, black/red=power) so the other wires are unnecessary unless u want to just double the wires' gauge. i connected mine with an adapter plug soldered to 2 16g wires- blk/red to the radio. gr8 find tho, i will prolly reposition my radar detector there also.

I ended up just buying a smartcord wiring it through the auto diming mirror and ran the mute button across the headliner and down the a pillar so it is at the bottom of the a pillar by the dash, it was real easy and look a lot cleaner

Sure not a problem, once i get my 8500 back from escort i will. Its funny i didn't hardwire it untill it broke. I used my dad's 9500ix to make sure it worked ha
