Resetting Instrument Cluster Needles
 

I just finished replacing my instrument cluster needles on my 94 ES300 and found that my speedometer and tachometer needles both point below 0 when the cars not running. Can anyone tell me how to adjust them so they rest a 0 when off?

make sure the needles rest at zero with the key on, engine off....the easiest way to do this is remove the front cover to the cluster, carefully install it in the car, turn on the key, do not start the engine....note the position of he needle, turn the key off remove the needle, putting it back on adjusting for the difference noted above...turn the key back on see if you got right, if so key off, battery disconnect, unplug the cluster, replace the cover, reinstall and you should be good to go....

Thanks for the reply Capnfred. Trouble is there are three pegs on the gauge part that the needle has to fit over. One peg in the middle for the needle itself and two pegs are for the electrical connections. I don't see how i can just pull the needle back off and put it back on a fraction of an inch one way or the other and still make the electrical connection. I'm wondering if there is some kind of spring tensioner i can adjust.

Great post!! Also my seat belt light (which is red indication) is burned out. So if I get white led is should be OK? Or I would need red led?

As far as I am aware, each light in the instrument cluster has its own color filter fitted in place before each bulb, so you should be fine using any neutral colored bulbs as a replacement.
