1993 Lexus ES300 OD light is Flashing
In my 1993 Lexus ES300, OD light is Flashing. The flashing pattern is On Off Off Off Off Off Off On (on for half a second and off for 3 seconds, this pattern keeps repeating). I find the pick up is pretty bad when the car starts from stop position to drive. When I am driving on the freeway, it drives better. Recently, I had changed the transmission oil. However, I did not put synthetic transmission oil. My mechanic put some decent transmission oil. Does it have anything to do the transmission oil or other defective parts like speed sensor or solenoid? To get extra pickup, I am trying to drive with extra power by pressing ECT power power button. Still, OD light keeps flashing. Any ideas to find out the cause of the problem?
When we ran diagnostic test, we got the error code 62. What could be case of the problem?

Sounds to me like your O/D is engaging and disengaging. Perhaps your wires for the O/D button have worn or the button on the shifter has worn and it's connecting and disconnecting.

Your shift solenoids are going out. You need to go to a transmission shop and have the solenoids checked/replaced. The solenoids are controlled by the main computer. These transmissions are fully electronic.

run the diagnostics for the tranny... the flashing OD light is telling you the AT has a problem....the error code will tell you what the problem is...you access the AT codes in a similar manner to engine codes as the same computer is used for both. The information is available in the service manual.... get that and read the chapters on the AT... any questions let me know....

Have you checked the trans oil? I realize that you just changed it, but it is possible that they may not have added enough, or too much. Always start with the basics. It would also be a good idea to check the electical plug on the trans. With the power off, unplug the connector and check for corrosion, oil, or anything else before looking too deep into the problem.

Thanks for the useful suggestion. I have the owner's manual which does not have any information about AT codes. Where can I download Service Manual containing AT codes, free of charge?

check your library, also you can get them on cd, last time I bought one it was about 15.00 with shipping.... there were some posted on one of the other Lexus forums...basically you jumper two pins in the diag. connector under the hood.....I believe TE1 and E1.....but before you do it make sure that is correct.. then you count the blinks....it will give you the code...the local library has reference material that has the info also...... for the tranny there are only 6 or 7 codes... one for each of the sol. one for each of speed sensors, and a couple of others.... good luck
