Halos or Intake?

So I have some time and cash set aside for my next mod. I have a 2ES and was wondering if I should go the Halo Projector route or install a CAI. Suggestions?

DixonPai Apr 2, 2010 11:23 PM

i would probably go cai

^^Thanks for the suggestion. I did some research and I believe the only intake available for the 2ES is Weapon R? Correct me if I'm wrong.

It's one of the only ones you can just buy and clamp on. There's a discussion about it going on here that I recommend you read:

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/es3...ir-intake.html

And for halos, make sure you photoshop them on the car before buying, to see if you actually like it.

^^ Again thanks for the suggestions. I've been keeping up with that thread. I was just wondering if there were any other options for a CAI. I've also been keeping up with a thread regarding Oracle halo projectors. I just don't know which mod to tackle first...

I suggested the intake i see more enjoyment in that, a good feel for sound, but if you going more for looks then do halo. Well really its not only weapon R, but weapon R would probably give you a better chance of gain, but if you just want sound just get an ebay one or just take out the air box and replace it with a cone.

Intake = Sound/ maybe minor gain

Halo= Exterior, for looks

so what do you want?

mikeli689 Apr 3, 2010 12:34 AM

I want booooth haha. Maybe I'll do the intake first since that's probably the easier mod of the two.

Tjayy Apr 6, 2010 10:20 AM

CAI is alot easier
go with that

kaldES98 Apr 6, 2010 10:53 AM

intake.. don't do halos on an es300

I'm surprised the thread went on this long before someone advised you not to do the halos. It's your car but an ES is an entry level luxury car. Because of this, I would personally try not to do any mods to cheapen the look of the car. In fact, I would not do any mods to cheapen the look of the car even if it weren't an entry level luxury vehicle. lol. But it's all about opinion. Do whichever mod you'd do if you could only pick one of them as your first mod. That should help you make up your mind.

As a side note, I've seen a few DIY halos (out of very many) on the Internet that I thought looked tasteful. All that ebay stuff looks cheap and most of it performs exactly the way that it looks. We're talking horrible light output. You'd be better off with a Maglite flashlight taped to the front of your car.

Thanks for the input guys! I decided to do an intake for now. Maybe gonna do the halos for a future mod, maybe not...

your in the same boat as me ahaha... both halo and intake thread were made by me. I don't know if I should install a intake since isn't lexus made for the quiet run? I gave up on the Halos light. I asked the site and they could do it on a 2ES but they would have to take a ring off the light.

Intake on a 2ES is quite something for bystanders. Its very very aggressive. You'll have a lot of fun wasting gas Mike ;)
