Your '94 IS in fact OBD2. It was 1 of the 1st OBD2 cars. Are you sure your OBD2 scaner is working correctly? It shouldn't be giving an error code.

Thats what i thought also... so i went n cheked 2 other obd2 vehicles i have and it worked fine. and i dont have a cheap scanner either i have a scantron9180. the crazy thing is that, even if i disconnect the batter to reset the ecu as soon as i turn the key the chek engine light is still on. could it be the ecu?

Nah, your fine.

I have a feeling you may be on to something with the ECU. Due toi the fact your CEL comes on imediatlt, and the OBD2 system is not working, it seem to me there is either a short int he OBD2 wiring somewhere, OR the ECU is going bad. What "exactly" does the scanner say when you hook it up?

Also, rather then unhookign the battery, you can also simply pull the EFI fuse for a few seconds in the fuse block JUST behind the battery. That will reset the CEL.

Question

While we wait on his results, do you have a handy site that has the ECU wiring/pinout for a '92 ES300?

Lmao@ brembo blacks!! anyhooo k im back with a progress report. so i found another ecu at the junkyard, i took it off a 96 es300, came home plugged it in and the car started fine with no chek engine light until i rev it, so i plugged in my scanner n retrieved 4 codes. random misfire, misfire in cylinder #5, misfire in cylinder #6 and a p0450 dat i forgot wat it means lol.... so now im im tryin to figure out the misfire situation. the car idles fine but i can still feel the misfire. i took the 96 ecu out n dropped in the 94 ecu (original ecu) and the car starts up fine, smooth idle, n no misfire, but wants to die out when i go to give it gas, n the chek engine light on. so i plugg my scanner in n i get the error connecting message. so now my question is...... does the diference in years even though they r the same engines make a diference in the ecu programing? i kno the 1994 es300 is a v6 3.0l mfi dohc and the 1996 es300 is a v6 3.0l sfi dohc. would dat be the diference?

96 ECU and 94 are different. In fact, I think the 94, 95, AND 96 are different. And to add to that, there is both Fed and Cali emmisions ECU's. The Camry SE ECU is the same as the ES300 I think, but ONLY the SE trim.

Make SURE the part #'s on the ECU's match. If you want, give me your ECU part number and I'll find it on ebay for you. I like searching for crap, lol.
