Increasing Induction Noise
Hey fellas,
There's a guy in my apartment complex who saw me working on my car (changing the pre-cat oxygen sensor). I had the air filter out and was revving a little bit, because I like the induction noise from this engine. He was asking me how I got it to make that noise, and I said it was just temporary, because you shouldn't run without an air filter on a daily basis. I told him that to increase induction noise, you generally want to get rid of stuff getting in the way between the throttle body and the air intake, such as the filter and air box - but obviously you can't just throw them out, because with no air filter, you'll end up sucking in leaves and crap - and with no air box, you'll suck in hot air and lose power. Do yall have any suggestions for him? I'm giving him a link to this thread and recommended that he joins up, so maybe he'll get a username - otherwise, I'll just have to relay the information. Also - that big plastic box right after the MAF - sort of upside down triangle shape - does that have something to do with the cruise control? I've heard modern cars have resonators in their intake systems, but I'll be honest - I typically deal with cars 20+ years old - we didn't have any of that in the 80's! |
