Default starter replacement?

Hey everyone,

I just have a quick question. I have to replace the starter on my 1994 Lexus ES300 but am unsure of exactly how to do it. I have found a manual online for the 1994 Camry and some people tell me it is exactly the same. Is this correct? If not, can someone please explain to me the steps required in replacing the starter? Thanks.

Hmm, not that common for starter to go bad. What makes you think it's bad?

It's very easy to replace.

The manual for 1993 lexus es 300 is on the web.

The manual for the 1998 [or 1997, not sure, but same car] es 300 is on the web.

The 1994 camry v6 should have all identical torque specs and the procedure should be almost exactly the same as the 1994 es 300 v6. I 'm not 100% sure you even need a manual to do it, but if it's your first time, maybe a haynes and a Lexus FSM [like the 93 and 98 I just mentioned are] would be wise to use together?

also, autozone has a repair manual , but sometimes its very tricky and unless you know what to look for and have experience it can be misleading to a fault.

Thanks! The reason I ask is because I was told it was my starter that was bad. As far as the manual online.. I looked and found only one that after downloading and running the file with WinZip..it asked me for a password. might you know of a location elsewhere where i can download the manual??

the password is at that site , usually
lol
you should have been able to search this site for the fsm. why do i have to do everything for you?
i just did a simple search, on this site, took me 1 min to find this:
http://www.turboninjas.com/camry/

I dont think you have to do much but remove the cruse control servo and maybe some plugs and get a wrench on a few bolts, first disconnecting the battery , disconnect wires on starter, shuldn't take more than like 45 mins start to finish. its right on top. will require a bit of bending/leaning over [not fun for me].

ASG helps you then you're one lucky duck. Probably take ASG, by himself, about 25-35 minutes start to finish.
