93 es300 starting problem!! please help!
car won't start! not the battery, tried jumping it and still nothing, its def cranking over but won't start, any ideas? a friend thinks i might be my fuel pump, anyone know where the fuel pump for a 1993 es300 is located?

First check fuses. Then check for spark. If you have spark, buy a can of starter fluid, read the directions, and then try starting the car. What makes your friend suspect the pump?
|
cause its cranking, but there is no smell of gas at all
|
Fuel pump is in the tank. Remove the back seat lower cushion to access fuel pump.

To find out if the Fuel Pump is working, you can ask someone to turn on the key to the on position without starting it and you, yourself would need to open the fuel door, open the gas cap. And put your ears next to the filler pipe and tell your friend to turn the key to the on position. If you hear a whining noise or somewhat like that, the pump is working. You're probably out of gas, the gas gauge is not that accurate when it's near the "E" level. GL.

ya fuel pump is easy test... if ya cant hear it kick on wit the key then thats it.. also there is a vaule on the fuel rail like a tire vauve.. turn the key on and off three times (dont start it, just turn it to on.) wait bot 10 seconds each time... this is priming it.. after that use a screw driver to push that little vauve in and if it squirts good preesure out then it is not the pump too.. this means its gettig plenty of fuel from the tank but could still be injectors.. if one goes bad they all dont work properly.. if the car ran good before i doubt it is spark. most the time it will mis a bit before a coil or spark problem will occure..

If you don't have spark AND fuel at the same time. It would most likely be the Crankshaft Position Sensor (CKP) is bad.

I had the same problem with my es after not starting it for 2 weeks. Tried everything (cranking, jumping). What finally did it was leaving the ignition on (without the engine running odviously) for about 5 minutes to let the fuel pump get any air out of the line. After that it started on the second revolution.
