steering noise
 

I get a whining noise while steering. There is also a weird, faint fluid gushing sound while steering. Steering is effortless and the fluid looks good. Is it a bad pump or worse?

Sounds almost like a 'cat' ? I get that squeak when turning the wheel to the left. very irritating, wish i would fix it somehow.

It's a 93, sorry. A cat hissing? Maybe, but more like a fluid gushing though a hose or small opening. It doesn't seem to matter what direction I turn the wheel.
And the whining noise I fear is a bad rack or possibly the PSP.

Ok, do you hear it while the car is stopped? If so I would check the power steering lines for crimps, or any other visible damage, then pull the power steering reservoir, and clean it out. Make sure there is no restrictions.

Ah, sounds good. The squirting sound is present whether stopped/moving.

Check your fluid level.
