Thanks for all your help. It is the EFI fuse that is blown. It appears the oxygen sensor is grounded/wired wrong.
We cut it out and replaced with a new fuse. The car started normally. Now I just need buy a new oxygen sensor.
Couple of questions:
Although my oxygen sensor is not functioning I don't have a check engine light ON.. is that normal? It flashes momentarily when the key is in ignition.
Where do you recommend I buy the oxygen sensor? Any recommended manufacturer?

Buy a DENSO o2, best sensor and an OE product. As far as the first line of your response "the o2 is grounded/ wired wrong" Think about that statement. It is grounded inside the case where you smashed it taking it out, you're right about that. Wired wrong? Not likely, since the car was driving fine until you removed the exhaust.
