dim instrument panel on 2002 es 300
#3
dim? 2002 es has got to be the best and brightest instrument panel of any car i have been in. i love it. you may have to adjust that little wheel to the left of your steering wheel to get it lit up.

Like the rest, the only thing I can think of is the brightness control.
Brightness is fine for me, although i thought they'd be something spectacular given the way they advertise the "Optitron gauges" on the '02 ES.
By the way, the two consumer complaints registered so far with the NHSTA for the '02 ES has been:
1. Instrument panel washes out in bright sunlight
2. Gas cap too hard to remove. The dude complaining said he sprained his wrist doing it. I see a lawsuit coming up!

I guess you mean when it's daylight out? Well if it's light out, I don't think even the brightest bulb will really change it. You're probably having this problem basically because of the materials/colors used and the way the dash was designed.

Since there have been no recent posts to this blog, I was wondering if a resolution has ever been found. I also own a 2002 Avalon, and the dash lights DO NOT wash out on it. I have removed the instrument cluster from the dash and have replacement bulbs for the ES, but I cannot find where they fit into the Instrument housing. Any help would be more than appreciated.
