Default CEL code 14, 93 es300

Hello everyone from SW Florida, this is my first post on here, finally got permission to do so... anyway I have a 93 ES, I am getting an intermittant check engine liight, when I pull the code I get a 14 which points to the ignition system. If I clear the code it will stay off til I drive for about 15 mins or so, does not seem to have anything to do with warming up. I was wondering if anyone has experienced anything similar in a vintage 3.0 liter engine. I replaced the igniter, did not seem to have any effect, I am going to swap the coil, and replace the wires as I have no idea what the maintenence history is on the car, but from what I have seen sofar it was not done very well... so I am fixing problems as I find them and so far they have been many. Thanks for all the assistance....

Here is an interesting update, as I have said before, this car has been worked on previously by person or persons unknown, but certainly not a mechanic. Since I have had the cel light working, I have had a consistent CEL 14, rough idle, and poor gas mileage. Last nite I noticed the hose that goes from the cam cover to the intake hose did not fit well. Since this is after the MAF sensor, and before the throttle body it would confuse the ECM and it would try and compensate, sooooo I hooked the hose up nice and tight, noticed the idle was smoother, so I took it for a drive. Voila, the CEL stayed dark...... not sure what the relationship between CEL 14 (ingitor related is)....but it stayed out for at least 30 mins. Will drive the car to work today... see what happens.. Like I said bit by bit I am getting rid of all the "jerry rigs", placed by the previous owners......no one responded to my previous post, so maybe this will garner a response or two....

Thanks

Well after driving a couple hundred miles, I have a new cel, knock sensor, and o2 sensor, looking at the engine, the knock sensors are under the intake manifold I think, It appears that I can check them by disconnecting plug ED1, I think I can check the O2 sensors at the diag. plug under hood, DLC1. If anyone has any advice I would appreciate it. I am still puzzled by CEL 14 clearing up by fixing the intake system. I also am getting really crappy mileage...less than 200 miles to a tank.... I think I should be able to do better than that right? Still have some other issues, will scan the board to see if anyone has had a similar problem in the past.
