2002 ES300 HID Install???

I really, really, wand HID's on my ES300. Is it possible to do so? I know that my Lexus does not have HID's right now, just standard really nice Halogens. Is it possible to install a kit on my Lexus? If so, Can I have a link or video on how to install them? thanks.

I am just confused because I have seen the hole in my Headlight right now and then the size for HID's and it just seems impossible, but your guys' help would be greatly appreciated.

Do a retro like I did.. A kit would cause WAYYYY to much glare. Let me find my link....

Here is my thread from Toyotanation:

I really don't want to tear up my Headlights that much.

Is there any other way?

How much is the cost? Money isn't that much of an issue for me...

Then buy a pair of HID headlights from Lexus and put them in.

They are about $450 each. Plus $382 each ballast, $350 each bulb(These can be found cheaper), plus a couple other things.

A retro is they only way to do it properly without spending ALOT of money. You could probably find cheaper HID housings on Ebay.

Here is an Ebay listing:

Does anyone recommend XENON Halogen bulbs like these:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/D2R-H...ayphotohosting

or these i know they aren't for lexus:

The first ones are not Halogen, They are no name HID bulbs, and will only work if you have HID housings, The second ones are crap halogen bulbs with a blue coating, that means less light output.

in your first link: The D2R bulbs are the actual bulbs that go in the HID setup that you want to convert to. You can't use these in you current headlight setup.

in your second link: I wouldn't buy these with your money.

If the HID conversion is too much money then invest in a worthwhile halogen bulb. I suggest the PIAA Xtreme White bulb or the PIAA Intense White bulb (depending on you bulb configuration (H7, 9006, 9005, etc.). You can find these on ebay and many reputable online stores like www.tirerack.com.

So the look alikes are worse than just a standard Halogen...

Tomorrow I am going to pick up a pair of Sylvania SilverStar's. They are about 4000k.

Maybe HID someday.

Choas Nov 14, 2008 10:09 PM

If you wana go cheap like I did till I try my retrofit go with the Silverstar Ultra's not the regulars.

Megafast13 Nov 15, 2008 08:30 AM

Yeah, how do you like them...

I meant to say Ultra's.

gulffishin Nov 15, 2008 12:01 PM

JSM, did you ever retro your fogs?

Megafast13 Nov 16, 2008 09:16 AM

After going to two Autozone's and an O'Reily's, I finally got the Silverstar Ultras. They burn at 4100K. Plently for me :)

JSM1284 Nov 16, 2008 11:33 AM

Nope, Never did my fogs.

peter1965 Nov 18, 2008 09:03 PM

Hey there Steviej,
so are you all saying that if i just put an aftermarket HID kit in my std ES300 (halogen, non-projector) headlight housing it just will generate a really crappy light pattern?

cheers, pete.

Choas Nov 19, 2008 12:12 AM

I really like them. I think they are the best non HID. Shoulda ebayed em tho its half the price.
