Flex pipe problem NEED RECOMMENDATIONS
Hey guys today me and my dad went underneath the car because I was hearing a drone in my exhaust while driving and found out that my flex pipe has a small hole in it, it is located right on the main flex. Now I dont know what to do because I went online to get a price on the flex and its $1200 :eek2:for it because it comes attached with the catalic :uh:. Now I dont know if its possible to just have the flex part replaced on the pipe or if I have to replace the whole thing. Someone chime in thanks

go on ebay and look the part up i seen one for about 104.00 brand new without the cat

I had an entire custom-made exhaust system (custom y-pipe back through the muffler) for roughly $1200. Keep shopping! You should only be paying for a needed amount of flex and the cost for the installation labor.

I saw your post really nice, I would like to do what you did but I live in Jersey and you said it was a little loud in the cabin for you. Is it possible to just replace the flex joint? You know cut it off and weld a new one on SLOWWW? Can I email you pics of the exhaust?

IS the exhaust as quiet as stock after you replaced the muffler with a OEM one???PM me your email

What year is your ride. Depending on age & mileage it may be better to replace the entire pipe including the cat. Just did this on my 96 ES300 (151K) because check engine light was on & it wouldn't pass inspection in NY.
It listed for $1500 at 2 auto parts stores, but a friend of a friend's mechanic found a complete set for me for $300. Bosal, Magnaflow or Eastern Catalytic are good suppliers. Be sure whatever you get comes with gaskets and be prepared that the rear O2 sensor (another $50-100) may need to be replaced also as it's on top of the pipes. Spend a few days looking on eBay, you can find most anything there. Here's a link: http://shop.ebay.com/items/__lexus-e...=p3286.c0.m104 |
its a 96 with 114k miles

Deeper and rumblier than stock, with no annoying high tones or resonance now. Louder than stock? Slightly, yes. But I doubt I would attract any attention from authorities in communities with hypersensitivity to exhaust sound levels. |

I live in Jersey, too. New flex pipe cost me $300 (98 ES). Lexus wanted $4,100 saying entire exhaust system had to be replaced. Here's my prior post on it: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=292381 Post #10 in the thread shows the new flex pipe welded in. Walt |

Or this with free ground shipping, but check your engine type this is for (1MZFE): http://www.autopartsauthority.com/oe...~oemparts.html Spend time researching and see what others say here, people always have something. Hey Lexucan and Lexusk8, any thoughts on this subject?? |
