2G ES300 steering wheel
I was going to try using 3G steering wheel with wood as a replacement for my 2G, which is still in excellent condition. However, having to find the match color of the leather can be challenging. Now, I want to think outside of the box. What about 2001 Camry steering wheel with wood since parts between Camry and ES are often interchangeable? Thanks for reading and any feedback.

I dont know the answer to your question.
I would get the same, leather-wrapped wheel your second gen came with. They're better than the faux wood in the 3rdgen |
The camry wheel should fit. However, you will only have the leather wrapped wheel option from the camry wheel from a XLE model. There was no wood option ever for the camry wheels. All es300 wood wheels are made of solid wood. The only option you can go for a wood wheel is a steering wheel from a 00-01 es300 and an airbag from the same years. The color option, you really cannot find a 'perfect' match. You either have brown, gray, or black.

seeee what you have to do with the airbag..... besides the looks, and not better feel, this is yet another reason to just get a new wheel like the one you already have

All right. Plan is scratched for 2001 Camry. We'll keep hope for 2001 ES300. Would 2G ES300 air bag fit into steering wheel of 2001 ES300?
Thanks |
nope, 3rd gen airbag fits 3rd gen steering wheel

lej, the air bag issue -- that's what me and other people said a bunch of times in this thread and it's also on this forum a bunch of times.
it's very costly and more complicated to do the 3g wheel swap. What is wrong with the 2g leather-wrapped steering wheel? I see nothing wrong with it. It does wear with age like all of its type do. But it is superior. |
2g steering wheel is superior? please share.
I like the steering wheel w/ wood from 2001, and I've been searching for Levoc shift gear with wood and O/D. Both are hard to find. |
