Okay I am back on this thread. Does this fix work for the GX470s? I have an 04 GX470 and the AC is now not working at all. I have been able to shut off and or hit the Auto and it would kick back on. It has gotten worse over time and now it wont stay on more than a few seconds. Here is what I got.. What relay am I supposed to replace?

One more question regarding this relay issue. I went to O'Rielly's last night and inquired on the R6034 and they did not have that one. They pulled out 25-0137 and said it was the replacement to 90987-02022. I asked to run a replacement for 90987-02028 and they came up with 25-0279. Has anyone used this 25-0279 relay with any success? I assume as long as it is a cross referenced relay for the 02028 relay it should work. Either way, they didn't have it in stock at the time but will have it by today at noon. I will go pick it up and give it a try this evening unless someone has more information. Thx

Wanted to update all on this.Now this is for a 2004 GX470

I just swapped out the 90987-02022 relay as my AC was not working and showing the "check air conditioner" as shown in my last post. I went to O'Reily's and when giving them the new replacement relay number of 90987-02028, they cross referenced it to this one, 25-0279 (JR66K). I did notice that it shows 90987-02022 right under the 25-0279. I figured I would give it a shot since its $12.99 and see if it works. Lo and Behold, It WORKED!!!! Here is what I got from O'Reily's, Hope this helps....

 

1998 ls 400. Had the comp. clutch fail, so replaced the compressor with a reman. denso and replaced the dryer. Vacuumed the system down and held a vacuum just fine. Problem is that I can not get the system to take more than about 1/2 a can of 134. Had it vacuumed, released the first can, began to fill, then just stopped filling. Started the engine, turned on AC to see if that would help, but would still not draw it in. compressor engages for about 3-4 seconds, then the light starts flashing and the compressor shuts off. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thx.

A/C was blinking and A/C quit off and on. Bought a Toyota 90987-02028 relay on e-Bay for $8 plus shipping. Easy to replace and is working fine so far. Originally bought one at O'Reilly Auto Parts, cross ref. was back to original 90987-02027. Toyota Bulletin referenced in this thread clearly calls for a 90987-02028.

 

Just curious, what year/model is your car?

 

So, I switched out the Mag Clt switch to the updated model and the A/C is still flashing. I can turn off and on a few times, then it works for awhile and then it flashes again. I did read in other forums that you are to disconnect the battery before replacing. I missed this step. Thoughts????

 

Thank you everyone who posted here and kept this thread alive. Saved me a nice wad of cash. I went to O'Reilly's and gave them the Toyota part number ending in 90987-02022 and they gave me the replacement part 25-0279 (which as indicated in the thread has the same "generic" number ending in 02022). I plugged it in without difficulty and when the car was started up the AC light had stopped blinking and started cooling. Hopefully there are not any more issues, but my car is already over 10 years old, so here's to another 10!

 

Can somebody please post a picture showing the location of this AC relay in the relay box of an ES300 year 2002. Thank you much

 

OK guys found a picture on the threads of postings, this place is cool.
1) Replace the relay
2) If not, charge coolant
3) If not, replace compressor
4) and if problem persist, sell the car!!

 

OK, bought the recommended part at Toyota dealership, $92 and solved the problem, this place is cool, I just cant part ways with my $350 to Lexus..

Claflin here. I just joined the forum 2 days ago because I was experiencing problems with my 2003 Lexus ES300
A/C light flashing.
This forum is very helpful and I am very grateful to all of you. As it turned out as several had suggested, the magnetic clutch relay was faulty, and I had the one with P/N 90987-02022 . which is replaced with 90987-02028.
I also found video on you tube where some one had the same problem and all he did was removed the relay from the fuse box , tapped on it and put it right back in and it worked. This is Ideal for any one short on cash as the new part cost about $80 bucks from dealership, but Advanced discount auto has it for $1699+tax.

 

$1,699 is a lot of money for a relay! Wow!
