Just to close out this thread - I received my relay in the mail today and plugged it in and my Air Conditioner promptly started working again! - I didn't even need any tools to fix this one!

Thanks for the help on this problem!

i'm having the same problem on my 97 es300. also hoping it's just low...weird though, it blinks and doesn't cool when sitting idle, but when you get on the road, the light stays on and blasts cold air fine.

well duh you have a different problem than this person, so why buy a relay you don't need [thought it wouldn't hurt IF your car was covered on the aforementioned TSB] LOL

Thanks for posting this fix.
I also confirm that replacing the relay fixed the blinking A/C button light issue for my 2002 ES300.
The old part was "90987-02022" which seemed to work all these years. At 47000 miles, it gave out and the ac light began flashing. Replaced it with a new relay part number "90987-02028" and all is fine. The local Toyota dealer charged $90.
On an aside, my model does not have a 10A fuse in slot #3 as shown in the TSB diagram earlier.

Default AC LIght blinks - check relay

Anyone seen this problem and know anything about it?
The AC light on my 2002 ES300 intermittently blinked and the AC wouldn’t kick on. The first place I took it to said that my AC needed to be recharged and performed this service, which did not repair the issue. They then implied that it could be a bad compressor. After talking to several people familiar with cars, I was convinced this was highly unlikely.

I then took it to a local repair shop that specializes in auto AC repair. They ran diagnostics and said it was definitely ELECTRICAL. They simply replaced the RELAY and now it works just fine! The cost was $147 and it took an hour to fix. I hope that helps.

The thread's a bit old, but: I pulled the 02028 replacement relay on my 96 and simply cleaned the contacts. Now I can keep ground beef fresh for days.

Just wanted to let everyone know that this cured my blinking AC light problem on my ES300. I found the part 02028 at Advanced Auto in town for $30.00 so check with NAPA and Advanced in your area for the replacement relay.

I know this is an old topic but I wanted to let everyone know I got my relay from O'Reilly Auto Parts for $14 plus tax today. Part number of O'Reilly's is R6034 - "BWD multi-use relay". When I took it out of the box, the relay had 90987-02028 printed on it! My A/C is like new again! The icing on the cake is that this OReilly's part has a Lifetime warranty!

Default ES300 AC Light is Blinkin....another fix

Hello DMD Dreamer,

Thanks for getting back to me. I was able to find the relay after reading other "posts" on the web site. I couldn't find/get the correct replacement relay. Auto Zone didn't stock them (two types) and Advance Auto Parts had one listed at about 18 bucks that didn't fit in the slot because of an extra "pin" on the relay connectors.

But some wise ole guy that worked there (Advance) took my original relay and went in the back. He came back with a relay that was just a little taller than the original that had the correct number of relay socket pins. The air conditioner started working when I plugged it in. That was about two weeks ago and everything is still working fine.

The replacement relay from "Advance" is Part Number R3154. It's made by BWD and cost............$10.00.

I'm gonna copy and paste this info on the site as well. You never know when information like this might come in handy.

Thanks again for your reply.
