Strange CD player problem???

Board,

I just bought a ES300 and was playing the cd player with a cd I had burned. The player would play the first 3-4 songs and then it would not recognize the other 10-12 songs on the cd. I can play a retail cd just fine, but I have 3 cd's I have burned, and it will only play the first couple of sounds clearly, then the next one it plays with a lot of static. I have tried several programs to burn different cds and I get the same thing. I have played the burned cds in other players and it plays fine, so it leads me to believe it is the ES cd player. Thoughts or similar experiences?

Russell

You could try cleaning the laser head with a CD cleaning disc. I know my changer had difficulty playing burned CDs sometimes whereas store-bought music discs would play fine. So, I bought a cleaning disc that has a tiny little brush attached to the underside of the disc and ran it through the changer a few times. Now no more ERR in the LCD display when it tries to play CD-Rs.
The cleaning disc cost about $15 at Best Buy....good for DVD players too.

I did not mention that I have tried that, but I may do it again for a longer period of time.

What confuses me is that one song will play clearly, the next plays with lots of static, and then the next will not play at all

Thanks
Russell

Hmm....may be something more complex than a dirty laser. I've never heard of that particular problem before. The fact that it gets progressively worse with each track that is played is weird. Sounds more like a software/decoding problem that a hardware problem. Well, at least your regular CDs still play Ok.
