Considering a used ES300
 

I am currently looking at a couple 1999 ES300's for sale with about 70-80k miles, for around $10,000...very clean nice looking cars. The car will mostly be for highway driving to and from work.

My wife and I have a 2005 RX330 with 30,000 miles that we absolutely love. From reviews I have read these cars should have another 100k, at least, left in them.

Is this a worth while investment for the asking price, or I am going to end up paying to much in repairs and maintenance in the next 50-70k miles?

Any comments and suggestions and comments would be greatly appreciated!

80k, going to have to do your major tune up at 100k miles,

fuel filter, oil, tranny filter/oil, sparks, timing belt etc.



just recommended, pay now cry now and dont' cry later.

all in all, not a bad price consider that mile range, if u can get it for 9 would be good!.

in short, it will take you over 200k miles if u treat her right.

I guess I got the better deal. I got the 01 ES300 43,000 miles for $10,000. I got it from my co-woker. she only drives it from home to work. The car is clean no problem at all. I just wax her over the weekend.:p

Not as good as ES300SKY's deal ^ but I just picked up a 98 with 50k miles for $10k.

Shop hard.

These cars are really reliable as long as you maintain them and not too expensive to maintain.
My 98 has 245K miles on it and no signs of slowing down.

last year i dumped about 3k into my 99 with 120k.

replaced the struts, strut mounts, tires, rotors, pads, rear sway bar links, o2 sensor timing belt, water pump, alternator, battery, plugs, evap canister, wheel sensor, trans flush, maf sensor. i think i have an hvac sensor that is bad since my abs and trac light are either on or flashing.

that was about 3k in total repairs, but i am not going to replace the timing belt or struts willingly as long as i own the car.




decent gas mileage at 22-24 mpg and ins is cheap too so i will hold onto mine

:uh: Just for clarification: You're saying you'd prefer to dump the car instead of replacing the struts or having the timing belt replaced again at 180k?

the next scheduled timing belt for me would be around 210k, i had it done at 105k. i know these things can last longer than the scheduled interval, so i will decide at that time. that would be about 5 years from now. i may do it so i have a reliable beater and will skip teh dealer and go to an independent
