Those with IS300 wheels question
Hey,
For those of you who has the IS300 rims on your car. It occurred to me the other day that the lugs are much shorter then the stock ES300. Since I bought and using the shorter lugs, my question is if i got a flat and had to use the spare would the shorter lugs be long enough? I sold 5 of the original ES300 lugs and still have 15 of them left so should I keep 5 of them in the trunk with the spare in case they don't fit? Normally I would just take the spare out and try it but since its freezing cold outside, I figure it would be easier to post it. Thanks, Ken |
You most definetly want to stick with lugs that have a proper fit to your ES300. Which means, no shortcutting. Wrong sized lugs can cause your wheels to fly straight off under heavy manouvering. Also means, suspension, axles, drive shafts, disc brakes and rotors, exhaust etc can all be damaged in one shot. (seen it happen before Lol)

The lugs are the same, except for the length...that means you won't be able to even put the spare on... well, that depends if you have the oem steel spare, or a full size spare.
BTW I don't recommend driving with the oem 15 inch with is17 inch spare for long...The diameter of the is wheel/tires are slightly smaller than the oem 15 inch rims/tires. I kept 5 of the old lugs with the spare in my trunk so that i would be able to mount the spare tire. |
Thanks for the responses. Good to know. Good thing I didn't sell the entire set of lugs. I'll keep 5 lugs and now have 10 lugs for sale.
