Default Ignition Coils

I need three new ignition coils for my 1999 Lexus ES300. Do I have to buy expensive Denso coils or are cheaper ones from Amazon ok?

Cheapo coils are rolling the dice, you might get lucky or waste your cash. Are you sure your coils are bad?

On Techstream I have a misfiring on cylinders 1, 3, 5 (the back three). Since my ES has 255,000 miles on it, I assume it's time for brand new spark plugs and ignition coils.

I also have a knock sensor code. Do you know if I can replace the knock sensors myself or is it too involved for a beginner?

I doubt all three of the coils failed at the same time. I look for something else causing the misfires. Maybe it's the knock sensor causing the misfires. Do you have any other codes besides the knock sensor? Here's how to replace the knock sensors http://www.findonefindall.com/toyota...ock_sensor.htm Different car but same engine and you don't have to remove the wipers.

Thanks, that was a great link and I saved it to my “Knock Sensor” folder along with the others.
