70+ mph Shaking!!! :(
Hey all, when I go about 65 to 70 or above my car begins to shake. Not a violent shake and I dont loose control but it shakes and it kinda annoying. I got wheel balanced and it still is the same. It only shakes for like 25 seconds or so but if i maintain the same speed it will shake for 20 seconds then be fine then after a minute or two it shakes again and continues. what could this be?

could be as simple as one of your wheels is actually loose, where the bolts where not tightened all the way or like you said needs to be balanced...
or could be suspension related... but i dont think it'll cause shaking... just nonresponse from steering input.

Take it to a shop and have the wheels balanced and make sure they use new sticky weights on the outer rim, check the cv joints and tie rods/ball joints, torque the wheels to 76 ft/lb. and set the tire pressure and see if it goes away. Next time you drive the car, shift it into neutral when the vibration is occuring. If it stops, you have a drivetrain problem.

hey 92es, its a 1995 es300. I will deff do the neutral thing tomorrow when I go home from school. I was wondering if it would **** up my tranny though. Could I drive that fast like 70 or so and put the car into neutral? Do I need to slow down and stop to put it in drive again or can I just pop it in drive when im going 70?

before doing the transmission-into-neutral thing, when you had the wheels balanced, did you ask them if any of the wheels were bent? If there's a woblly wheel, it might do it too. also did they check your tie rods/wheel bearing/ball joints? obviously if it's out of alignment it can cause certain issues too...
Then, I would try going that speed and letting of the gas {NOT neutral!]. putting it into neutral will not accomplish the goal of determining whether or not the axles are out of balance. but letting of the gas, and finding vibration gone, can virtually eliminate the engine as a culprit.
another thing it could be is the rotors. after doing the other stuff to no avail, try getting them cut and see if that makes any difference.

I had my wheels 'balanced' at Discount Tire after changing rims, and it shook horribly above 65 mph..I paid them 30 bucks to have them rebalance And they finally got it right.
Get them rebalanced, and do the neutral test.

Well I didnt do the neutral thing yet but when I was driving today I let off the gas completely and the car slowed down but shakeing still persisted for a few seconds. What am i looking for exactly? the car obviously slows and eventually stopps shaking but is it supposed to stop immediatly when I let off gas? Cause if so, thats not what happens. it still shakes for a few seconds.

I took it over to one of these mechanics and the guy say that I need all 6 new spark plugs cause its 100+ thousand miles and it needs to be changed. He told me that there's not enough gas burning evenly to the engine thats what makes it shakes.... is this right or is he bs'ing?

Well, if it was the spark plugs, then you would experience shaking when you are ACCELERATING. So, i wouldn't really be concerned about the spark plugs unless you have never replaced them before, and its 100k+ miles on the car.
I'd still get them rebalanced. Discount tires, where i bought my tires from has free rebalancing and tire rotations for the life of my tires, so i made them rebalance my wheels.
