1993 ES Cabin Filter

Hi All,

I have a 93 Es which I have looked for the cabin filter to replace but can't where it is located.

Anyones know the location of it please tell me.

Peel back the carpet on the drivers leg side, right side, where the gas pedal is. Its attached with velcro, so its easy to pull back. uhh then you pull out somewhite tabs...but theres a thread with pics on here i remember.

Hi Heorung,

Here's a link with pictures from an old thread for a 1994' ES - should be pretty much the same. But......

NOTE: Because you have an AUSTRALIAN spec ES with RH side Drive your cabin filter will be on the left hand side of the drivers pedals if that makes sense. In other words it won't be right next to the accelerator pedal, but on the other side where the foot brake is etc towards the centre console of the car. I know this because I recently checked mine on my Australian spec 97 ES!

There are also several other threads with pictures for the 97-01 cabin filters in the club Lexus forum which should give you a rough idea of what to look for even though yours is a 93 model. Just search the forums.

Hope this helps.

I'm not exactly sure. I checked my filter recently and it was fairly clogged with dust and dirt - not extremely clogged but definatley noticable if you know what I mean. - Far better the dust is trapped in the filter than blowing through the car I say!:thumbup:

I have ordered new filters - $120 AUS from the dealer :eek2: I Didn't have much of a choice! Just waiting for them to arrive.
It will be very interesting to see the difference (if any) between the new and old filters. At the moment after i switch the ac/heater off but just keep the air blowing there is a slight 'musty' smell. Hoping that the new filters will sort this out. Also it will be interesting to see if there is any increased air flow through the vents when running the new clean filters.

I'll keep you all posted in this thread.

Here's a thought... why don't you attach one of those air freshiners (aka, the green oak tree) on the back of the filter.. so it'll blow out clean and fresh air?

just a waggie idea.

I bought my air filter at the local auto parts store for $16. It is an exact fitment. Cost way less than the OEM Lexus filter and does the same job.

I have a bottle of my favorite cologne that I spray inside the cabin every now and then. Smells better than any air freshener. Been doing this for years.
