How To Change Headlight bulb

I tried to change the bulb today and i pulled on the rubber tube that looked to be leadin to the headlight and it just popped off whats the deal? Also i bought H7 bulbs are these right for low beams?

H7 is the correct bulb for the low beams.

If you have already popped off the rubber gasket, the bulb is held in with a metal clip. You will need to loosen this clip in order to release the bulb from the headlight.

Hey guys,

So....I'm going through a divorce and don't have the soon to be ex to change my headlight bulb and the auto store won't help.

I've changed many on my Volvo and Saturn, but haven't attempted with the Lexus.

I know this is silly, but can someone give me "dummy" instructions so I don't break anything? I'm changing both low beams.

I'm sorry. Really appreciate anyone replying.

If you've done this on other vehicles, then it shouldn't be too much different on our ES. And being a female, it might even be easier for you than it would for your ex, since your hands are probably smaller than his. Smaller hands are an advantage since there isn't a whole lot of room behind the headlight housings, but if I can do it (and I have pretty big hands) then you should be ok. Just lift the hood on your car and reach in behind the headlight housing and turn the plastic base of the old bulb to unlock it so you can pull it out. The lowbeam bulbs on the '93 ES300 are #9006 halogens. Just separate the old bulb from the wiring harness by depressing the locking tab on the connector ****ALWAYS PULL ON THE CONNECTOR ITSELF, NOT THE WIRES GOING INTO IT**** and then plug in the new bulb ****BE SURE TO NOT TOUCH THE GLASS PART OF THE BULB - FINGERPRINTS WILL SHORTEN ITS LIFE**** Carefully push the new bulb into the back of the housing again and turn it to lock the base into position. Do the same on the other side and you're done.

Lexucan,

Thanks a bunch!!! I really appreciate it...I try to avoid calling my ex for small things (we are friends....more like annoying family members, but still!)...so I very much appreciate it. I was able to do it....I just didn't know if I should be aware of anything different with Lexus bulb changing. Many thanks for this reply and the others you have replied to for me =)
